The Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) has issued the final banknote in their new family of Safeguard® banknotes.
To facilitate financial transactions for all their citizens, the MMA has now issued the final note in the new series, the Rufiyaa 5. As with the rest of the new family that was launched in 2015, the note has been designed by Maldivian artist Mr. Abdulla Nashaath and was produced by De La Rue in close association with the MMA.
De La Rue’s Global Account Management Director Ruth Euling stated “We recognise that financial inclusion is critical and that the currency in people’s hands has to be authentic and easily available. The new 5 Rufiyaa will facilitate transactions across the islands and we are honoured to have been closely involved with this ground breaking family of banknotes.”
