Clydesdale Bank has announced its second polymer banknote will be issued into circulation on 21 September 2017.
De La Rue worked closely with Clydesdale Bank on the design of the new £10 note which will continue to feature Robert Burns, the world famous Scots poet. The design also includes the landscape of the old and new towns of Edinburgh, a World Heritage Site.
This launch follows the introduction of Clydesdale Bank’s £5 polymer note, which was released last September and which was also produced by De La Rue.
Like the £5 note, the £10 note is smaller in size, and is manufactured on De La Rue’s innovative Safeguard® polymer substrate. It will also include the Spark® Orbital™ security feature, which is depicted in the shape of Scotland over a transparent window and which changes colour as the note is moved and tilted. These features mean the new notes are more durable and more secure, which helps to reduce counterfeiting.
De La Rue’s Global Account Management Director Ruth Euling said:
“We are delighted to continue working with the Clydesdale Bank and to play a supporting role in its history of innovation through the provision of world-leading banknote technology.”
